Frequently Asked Questions

  • To get started, fill out the contact form and submit. Be on the lookout for an email from me with next steps.

Before setting up your first session with me, we need to make sure we are a good fit for each other. So I may email you with additional questions, we may decide to schedule a phone consultation, or we will go ahead and schedule the intake session.

  • The Intake Session is our first meeting. The purpose of this session is to get to know you better, to discuss any goals that you have and what you’d like to work on in therapy/coaching.

From here, we will come up with a plan for moving forward and schedule additional sessions.

  • We will discuss approximately how often we plan to meet at the Intake Session. Most of my clients meet with me every other week. Some do weekly sessions and some monthly. It really depends on what you want to work on as well as other factors like schedules and budgets.

  • I do not participate with any managed care plan and am not in-network. I am considered an out-of-network provider by your insurance company, so I do not bill insurance directly.

However, I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Please check with your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits and coverage for therapy.

All forms of payment are accepted, including Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts.

The Intake Session is $170 and a typical 50 minute session is $150.

Payment is due at time of session.

  • Online therapy is all the benefits of individual therapy, but from the comfort of your own couch instead of mine.

Open to all Kentucky residents and for anyone who is too busy to make it to the office, or prefers the convenience of meeting online.

Therapy sessions are either in person or online through a HIPAA compliant and secure video platform.

Outside of Kentucky? Check out other options on the resources page on this site.

  • My office is located in St. Matthews in Louisville, KY. All appointments are scheduled ahead of time and typically between the hours of 10:00 and 2:30, Monday through Friday. Late afternoon and early evening appointments are available a couple times a week.

  • There is a firm 48 hour notice for cancellation, even if you or your child is home sick. If you’re unable to come into the office, we can do a phone session or a video session.

When you schedule an appointment it is like renting this hour. If you can’t make it, I try to move someone else to this spot and the more notice I have the more time I have to try to fill the open spot. I ask that you give me as much notice as possible.

You can cancel or reschedule your appointment in the client portal or by contacting me via email, voice message, or text.

If you start to feel sick more than 48 hours before our appointment, let me know and I’ll be happy to take you off the schedule! It’s a lot easier for me to fit in another client who needs to meet when you give me enough advanced notice.

If I am sick or need to cancel, you won’t be expected to pay for that missed session.

  • Sometimes, the weather in Louisville is bad - snow storms, icy streets, floods. If you ever feel unsafe making it to the office, you can cancel with 48+ hours notice. If it’s less than 48 hours, you will be expected to make it to session - but we can always offer a phone or virtual session instead.

  • Non-clinical matters that come up between sessions can be handled through the client portal, or you can email me at keri@keriknightcounseling.com. If you wish to discuss matters related to your treatment, please schedule an appointment or phone session through the portal.
